The Accreditation Agency for Health and Social Sciences (AHPGS) is an interdisciplinary and multi-professional organisation whose main task is to accredit Bachelor's and Master's degree programs (program accreditation) and the internal management and quality assurance systems (system accreditation) at universities, universities of applied sciences, colleges of education, colleges of art and music and dual universities. On request the AHPGS also carries out procedures for PhD programs. The AHPGS works across all types of higher education institutions and disciplines with special expertise in the field of health and social affairs as well as in related and neighbouring fields.

ENQA MEMBERSHIP

At the ENQA General Assembly in Malta (October 24–25, 2024), ENQA President Douglas Blackstock presented our Managing Director Eva Pietsch with the certificate for the renewal of the membership, valid until September 2029.

Recognised by the World Federation for Medical Education

Accreditation Agency in Health and Social Sciences (AHPGS) has been awarded the Recognition Status by the World Federation for Medical Education valid until 2033. AHPGS is the first and currently the only agency to receive this for the countries Germany and Austria.

About us - The accreditation agency

The Accreditation Agency in Health and Social Sciences (AHPGS) is an interdisciplinary and multi-professional organization whose main task is to evaluate Bachelor and Master programs in the field of health and social sciences, as well as related fields of academic study such as medicine or psychology for example.

International Accreditation

The AHPGS has been conducting international accreditation procedures based on the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG) for more than 15 years. Its international work focus lies on

the accreditation of Bachelor’s and Master’s study programs in the field of health and social sciences and related fields and
the implementation of institutional evalutations, by means of which the quality standards of Higher Education Institutions (HEI’s) or parts of HEI’s (e.g. faculties) can be verified. Institutional evaluations examine various aspects of the institution, such as planned and current study programs, infrastructure, organizational and management structure.
